Re: Gareth Bale retires.
In his prime he was quite a magnificent footballer... and it was good to see in latter years that country took preference to club... so yeah he probably get mentioned in the list of top British players ever... the best?? Well he's up there...

Yes Surf, but did either of those Welsh players have to leave Tottenham to achieve all that like Bale did…..that’s what sets him apart….

Re: Gareth Bale retires.
His agent was on TS yesterday. Sounded like a right self-absorbed cunt. Said that Bale was by far the best British player ever. I nearly crashed my car! I mean, Bale was fucking quality but the best British player ever?

Was Bale better than:

Bobby Charlton
Wayne Rooney
Dixie Dean
George Best
Steven Gerrard
Kenny Dalglish
Dennis Law
Billy Wright
Nat Lofthouse
Ryan Giggs
Bobby Moore
John Charles
Paul Scholes
Paul Gascoigne
Stanley Matthews
Tom Finney
Jimmy Greaves

Do fuck off. Bale is in the conversation. Bale has scored some magnificent goals in the biggest games and he carried Wales for years. He is no doubt one of the best British players ever.

But the best? No way.

To be fair, nobody gives a fuck about the Club World Cups, the European Super Cups or the Spanish Sper Cups (FA Community Sheild equiv). Plus he took no part in one of those Champions League wins and got a medal for being an unused sub.

It's still an impressive record, but Ian Rush won:

5 League Championships
2 European Cups
3 FA Cups
5 League Cups
4 Charity Shields

I would suggest Rush won his honours in more competitive competitions, in a less dominant team and at a time when you didn't get a medal for being one of an infinite number of subs.

Ryan Giggs has:

13 Premier Leagues
2 Champions Leagues
4 FA Cups
3 League Cups
Plus various World, Intercontinental and Super Cups and 9 Community Shields, which, as I said, nobody gives a fuck about.

5 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 3 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups.

Not bad for a Taff, to be fair.

Apparently he's got a job on a budget version of Planet of the Apes. He got the part because he doesn't need expensive make up,

Not in the top five Welsh players.

As FC said, certainly behind the great John Charles, definitely behind Giggs and Rush and probably behind Southall, Toshack Hughes and Ivor Allchurch.

Obviously Ginge is no.1.

My favourite Bale moment was when he had an easy chance to put tottenham 4-0 against us, missed and set the ball rolling for the comeback.

I hear Zidane having a whip round for him. Of course he ain’t going to be well liked here. Playing for N17. Still was fun seeing him show Real Madrid and their fanbase to be the total cunts they are.
